The Benefits of Brazilian Blowout

My hair is so sleek, vibrant, and shiny!”

“It is so much easier to care for my hair.”

“It takes me less than half the time to blow dry, freeing me up to do other things!”

“Why did it take me so long to give this a try?”

These are just a few of the comments from KWSalons customers praising the results of their Brazilian Blowout treatment. Many of you have asked me to share the transformative benefits the Brazilian Blowout can have on your hair.

In short, it is a long-lasting game changer that hydrates, reduces frizz, prolongs color and protects hair from external damage. It reduces the time it takes to style and dry your hair.  And then there’s that luminous, reflective, glossy sheen

Here are my thoughts on the process.

Get it straight … or not! ~ I have noticed a common misconception that Brazilian Blowout is a straightening treatment.

It is, in fact, a semi-permanent smoothing treatment that uses keratin, with powerful amino acids, to fuse a protective layer around each strand to seal the cuticle and protect it from damage. It can produce a multitude of textures, styles, and degrees of straightening, depending on the application. And it is effective on all hair types and lengths.

Be clear on your goals ~ It is key that you consult with your stylist to share your desired amount of straightening, fullness, body, and wave.

The stylist’s tools here are the degree of heat of the flat iron and the length of time and tension with which it is applied. Straighter styles require higher temperatures and longer exposure.  Wavy, fuller styles are achieved at a lower temperature for a shorter time. The resulting styles can run the gamut from stick-straight to voluminous, so communicate exactly what you’re looking for. A good stylist will also consider what we in the business call “the flats, rolls, and rounds” of your head structure, tailoring the treatment and technique in these areas to achieve your specific goals.

Pair up your treatments ~ Brazilian Blowouts go hand-in-hand with color-treated hair.

Color treatment lives inside the cuticle of the hair. The Brazilian Blowout process lives on the surface of the cuticle, conditioning and sealing in fresh, new color, reducing frizz, and building a mirror-like shine. We recommend getting your color treatment on the same day, just before your Brazilian Blowout when cuticles are open to make the most of how these processes enhance one other. A glaze should be applied to balance out color and texture on the older hair from mid-shaft to ends.

Make it happen ~ Each treatment takes about 80 minutes and the results last about 12 weeks.

We also offer a Brazilian Express, a less expensive option that lasts approximately 4 weeks. It is best to let your treatment cure for 48 hours before engaging in any strenuous activity. You can prolong the life of your Brazilian Blowout with a specific hair-care regimen. Ask your stylist for recommendations on the right sulfate-free products for your hair and be sure to follow every workout with a thorough rinse or shampoo and conditioning.

As always, thank you for continued interest in my HairLine Blog! I so enjoy your feedback, both in Salon and online. Please keep your comments and suggestions coming here and let me know what you’d like to hear about next!

Kenny
